When he was younger, Steve Bradstock was quite sporty - but his father had other ideas.
He forced Steve to study computers at school. This, thankfully, turned into a real passion for him - and that’s how First Base Solutions, the company he now runs, came into being.
Of course, that isn’t the whole journey. There’s plenty of that during our conversation, including some great business challenges and lessons that Steve has encountered.
We also covered plenty of practical points, including
- Think of it as a business, rather than as a service for local people. Change your mindset!
- The problem that can arise from having too much business dedicated to one client.
- How beneficial it can be to have the team all working in one place - something that’s become a real hot topic over the past few months.
- Making sure that each customer is a ‘good fit’ for you.
Steve and First Base Solutions is a committed and clearly dedicated business owner. He has learnt from his mistakes, which he’s very honest about in this conversation, and it will be interesting to see where the future of the company lies - as you’ll hear, Steve has definitely got a scale up plan in mind!
