ScaleUp Radio

Feb 22, 2021

There have been many reasons for people starting their own ventures, that have been featured on ScaleUp Radio.

We’ve had guests that started out because they were unhappy in the corporate world, because their families had told them that they needed to work for themselves or because they had a hobby that turned into a business.

On this episode of ScaleUp Radio, however, todays guest started their venture following the loss of a loved one.

It was that tragedy that led Peter Dent to form The Edwards Trust, a charity that supports families who have lost a child or a significant adult. They help them through the grieving process

Now, I realise that this is the first charity that we have featured on ScaleUp Radio, but you’ll be surprised how similar running a charity is to running a business. So many of the challenges that you have gone through, Peter has experienced too.

As always, we had a far reaching discussion, including:

 - The difficulty in thinking about investing in the future, when you are in financial difficulties

 - Why you have to be flexible with your clients because you just don’t know how long they will need you for

 - The importance of Outcome Mapping for the continued success of your company

 - Always keeping your mind open to alternative revenue streams. It could be the difference between you surviving and going under

As I say, there really is plenty to take on board, and plenty to action within your own business - in this episode.

Peter is an incredible guest. You’re going to enjoy this.
