On this week’s episode of ScaleUp Radio we hear from Ben King from Bold Type.
Bold Type are a marketing, brand and design agency that’s still relatively young - at the time of recording they have only been in operation for 18 months - but they are already having a big impact within the industry.
One of the words that comes up again and again in Ben’s vocabulary, is ‘commitment’. As you’ll hear, it’s not just how he approaches all aspects of running the company - but it’s also what he looks for in those people that he chooses to work with.
This is a fascinating conversation that I know you’ll be able to take something from. We covered quite a bit of ground, including:
- Allow the whole team to be involved in as many aspects of the business as you can
- The process of not just thinking about the next stage of the scale up journey - but spend time thinking of the stage you’re at now; the values and culture too.
- Why you should always recruit for attitude, not for skills
- The benefits of sharing the responsibility of the future of the company throughout the workforce.
One of the great things that I took from this conversation, is just how Ben thinks of his staff. It’s by no means unique - but it’s incredibly refreshing and I’d love to know what you think.
I know you’re going to enjoy this episode.
